It's just been announced that Syd Barrett died last Friday, at home. He was 60. :(

You would hold your head up high
you even try
you would hold another hand:
oh understand!
They even see me under call
we under all,
we awful, awful, crawl
to hear my hour
come see me cry...

Just searching you even try
I can make you smile
if it's there will you go there too?
When I live I die!
They even see me under call
we under all, we awful, awful, crawl
because of you, to see me be.

("No Man's Land" by Sdy Barrett)

A sad story...

I can about say the same. I think the first I heard of the TVPs was them playing "Apples and Oranges" on the SydTrib Beyond The Wildwood.
Syd was an innovator and we should all be happy for what music he left us with.

For people in the UK, BBC2 are repeating their documentary about Syd's life tomorrow evening at 11:20. It was first shown a couple of years ago and if I remember correctly, features some nice clips of the Pink Floyd's early promo films.

As a tribute to the late Syd Barrett, the NoMen have re-recorded their version of "I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives", with various embellishments.

There's a Pink Floyd community out there with a lot of stuff related to Syd Barrett:

I was at the Syd Barrett tribute night at the Union Chapel a couple of months ago. It was a very poignant moment indeed, when Dan played THAT song. Apparently he wasn't going to play it, but Blaine from Mystery Jets persuaded him to. And yes, Dan did give out the address and quipped that "he's not there now!", or something like that. Got a laugh from the audience that did, and it was all done in the best possible taste!
