I often see Comet Gain mentioned in lists of their favourites by other TVP fans. Can someone offer a recommendation or two for a beginner (me)?

I like all their albums and I viscerally love the last two.
If I should choose a preference order it would go like this:
1) City Fallen Leaves (2005)
2) Realistes (2002)
3) Casino Classics (1995)
4) Sneaky / Magnetic Poetry (1997)
5) Tigertown Pictures (1999)
Most people I talked with seem to prefer the first album though.
I think it's worth to have them all and to follow them chronologically (even if for me the best comes last) because Comet Gain are David Feck's own creature as much as TVPs are Dan's and the albums flow tells a story.
It is also interesting to know that after the second album the full band left Feck to form Velocette. As a consequence Tigertown Pictures is a kind of transition album.
In my opinion the last two albums are real masterpieces. There are also lots of essential Comet Gain songs on singles and compilations.

I agree with Filippo...
In my opinion, records 1, 2 & 3 are better than 4 & 5... but all of them are really good.
Time ago David (Feck) told me something about the release of a compilation of the singles (the 90% of the singles songs are NOT in the albums!!)... That's going to be a GOOD record.
