Re: What was the last record you bought?

The Keys - The Keys (LP)

Debut LP from 2003 on Too Pure. I've been listening to a load of Peel shows from the last quarter of 2003 recently and he had this lot in session. I bought their album on the basis of that. They remind me of Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and Teenage Fan Club at their most Byrdsian.

Re: Bands doing TVP covers

Crayola (Mr Sarandon) has put together a compilation of the covers that the super ace Sarandon recorded and has uploaded it for free download. There's 8 covers, including a great version of "And Don't The Kids Just Love It". Other artistes covered include Swell Maps, the June Brides and the Membrane...

What are you reading?

I'm currently reading Sebastian Faulk's "Engleby". I bought it from a charity shop recently as the "make weight" in a 2-for-1 deal.

Dream The Sweetest Dreams

Love the slide guitar. Reminds me of Syd Barrett's playing.

Dan Treacy on other people's records

Ten years ago (gulp) I started pulling together some information for the site which, amongst many other things, documented the records where Dan appears as a guest artist. I never finished the article but perhaps now it's time to resurrect it and finish it off, especially since there's been a few ad...

Re: What was the last record you bought?

Mos Eisley - The Get-Up Set Their debut - and only - LP from 2003. A group that I remember from listening to Peel in 2001 - 03. Spunky indie rock / pop similar to Ash or the Futureheads. Great tunes. I listened to a Peel show at the weekend containing their second Peel session so tracked this down o...

Marquee Club 1988 / early 90s

Responding to a query I received, can anyone help date an appearance of the TVPs at the Marquee Club in London? This was after the club moved premises to 105 Charing Cross Road in 1988. The date may be in 1988 or it could be the early 90s. If anyone can find evidence in a gig listing, it would be mu...

Thanks Lee!

The next question then is, what happened to those new songs that Ed had put up on Myspace back in 2008? Did they ever come out properly?

Re: Gig chat

I went to see Wire at the New Continental in Preston last night (Friday 16th August). It was ferociously hot inside, but that didn't affect the band, who were on fine form.

Here's a clip of how they sounded. I can see myself two people behind the bloke at the front wearing the hat:
